Chrystal Sexton-McEachin

We will dedicate our first lap in memory of Chrystal Sexton-McEachin, a local community leader and director of the Northeast Neighborhood Association for over 20 years. She was a matriarch of the York community, and her impact was felt in her neighborhood and throughout the city of York. Sexton-McEachin’s vision led to the unique partnership between JFS and the Northeast Neighborhood Food Bank. We will miss her energy and friendship.

For more information about Chrystal’s legacy, read this recent editorial in the York Dispatch.

All are invited to register/donate to the Hustle 4 Hunger York Fun Run and Walkathon on May 7th at Springettsbury Park. The event will be held rain or shine. For more information, and to register online visit www.Hustle4HungerYork or by calling 717.843.5011.

15th Annual Walkathon

Join us for aShoes walk, refreshments, and fun activities to fight hunger in the York area at our 15th Annual Walkathon.  This free event is great for all ages and supports Jewish Family Services’ Project Manna and the Northeast Neighborhood Food Bank.

Area organizations, groups, families and individuals are encouraged to join in this effort to “BAG HUNGER” in the York area. Register and create personal or team fundraising goals online at walk.jfsyork.org. Depart from Indian Rock Elementary School on May 1st at 9:45 am and return around 11:30 am for refreshments and activities.

Youth are invited to participate in games and face painting provided by York College’s recreation class members following the walk. The S. Queen street Starbucks will be there providing complimentary refreshments.  All participants of the event will receive a Walkathon memento.

“12% of York County residents live with food insecurity and 18% of those are children. We are called to respond to this growing need in our own backyards” stated Carol Miller, JFS Program and Development Director. JFS Project Manna provides supplemental food to individuals and families who are economically stressed, and guidance to access benefits and information about local food resources.   Our sister agency, the Northeast Neighborhood Food Bank provides food, clothing and support to some of the most food insecure in York County.

All are invited to register/donate to the Walkathon on May 1st .Event will be held rain or shine. Information is available at walk.jfsyork.org or by calling 717.843.5011.
