Project Manna/Hunger

JFS’s Project Manna food pantry helps individuals and families who cannot afford to buy sufficient food, either temporarily or long-term. If you or your family is in this situation, call us for an intake interview.

We also provide supplemental holiday food for the Jewish New Year, Hanukkah and Passover and assist with seeking SNAP (Food Stamps) and other benefits where necessary.

As with all JFS programs, information about those who use Project Manna is kept confidential.

Jewish Family Services of York can help you:

  • Learn if you are eligible for SNAP benefits;
  • Answer your questions about the SNAP program;
  • Understand how to use the SNAP EBT card;
  • Renew your benefits.

The pantry is supported by individual monetary and food donations; the community wide High Holy Day Food Drive and the annual Hunger Walk-A-Thon.

In addition, JFS along with Mazon, the Jewish Response to Hunger are training a group of community volunteers about hunger issues and participate in lobbying and advocacy with our state and federal representatives. For more information on this project, contact us.

JFS Hunger Awareness Calendar

Established by Feeding America in 2008, Hunger Action Month is a reminder to everyone that hunger exists – in our nation, our state, and our community. We hope you will take this opportunity to learn more about hunger in York and then join JFS to take action against hunger in our community.

There are so many ways to take action this month, and all year long…take a look at our Hunger Awareness Calendar for ideas and inspiration
